I just wanted to mention some of the benefits I have experienced from doing eye exercises. I think I actually mentioned these before… but either way…. here they are…
1) My eyes feel more relaxed.
2) I am now able to focus much better. I often try to write without using my glasses (with the page a little distant from my eyes of course… I should measure that actually!).
I would like anyone who has experienced similar or other benefits to post a comment. I would serve as motivation to me as well as the readers of this blog.
Wishing You All Success,
William

I recently received an email from the Cambridge Institute for Better Vision. They are responsible for another eye exercises program called “Program For Better Vision“.
They are going to be conducting an eyesight improvement project in the near future, and they asked if I wanted to be a part of it. Well I decided to participate…
Here is an copy of the email…
Hi! – Martin Sussman here.

Good Day Folks,
I don’t know if this is a definite sign of improvement…. but I definitely think it’s a good sign.
I was sitting at my computer doing some work and I took off my glasses to rub my eye. Still with my glasses off, I was staring at the keyboard and noticed that I couldn’t really distinguish the letters on the keyboard.
Now there is an eye exercise that I do… and really like (you can check it out here) that helps you practise focusing. I decided to try the exercise to see if I could focus better on the letters.
To my suprise, the letters became quite distinguishable. I was also able to hold the focus for some time.
I am so happy for this. Seeing results is so motivating.

Over the past few weeks, I have been quite busy and have been doing the exercises quite infrequently. I now realise that one of my biggest challenges is keeping myself motivated.
I remember reading somewhere – I think is was “Conversations with Millionaires” by Mike Litman – that one key to getting yourself to do tasks that may seem boring or too routine is to focus on the positive outcome of the task rather than the task itself. In this particular case, it means focusing more on the possibility of not having to be so dependible on my glasses.
Now this a great technique that has worked wonderfully in other aspects of my life… but although, it helped during the early stages of doing the eye exercises…. lately I am becoming less motivated.
So… I wanted to know what you readers do to keep yourselves motivated

Hey, this is just a small update to let everyone know that I have been doing the exercises… about twice a week. However, I haven’t realised any significant improvement, but my eyes are more relaxed.
Will keep in touch…

Hello Readers,
It has been a while since I wrote a post on the blog. I have been extremely busy at work… but here is an update on my progress as well as some other related things:
1) Because of how busy I was over the past two weeks, I haven’t been doing the exercises regularly… actually I have done them about three times within the past two weeks.
2) What makes it even worst, is that I have been using the computer quite often… more often than usually, but I haven’t been following the recommendations for reducing computer eyestrain that I myself have recommended on the blog… things have been that hectic!
3) Despite that above, I have found that my feel “more relaxed” when I look at things without using my glasses… especially things outside during the daytime
3) I expect that things would be a bit less hectic in the comming weeks and I would certainly start back with a more regular routine
4) I had forgotten to mention that a couple of weeks ago I finally tried all the exercises recommended by the Rebuild Your Vision Program. The exercise are quite easy once you get accustomed to them.
4) One of the readers of the blog, Alex, has made quite a bit of comments on the blog, which has encouraged me to continue doing a bit more research… I hope to post my findings on the blog in the near future.
5) I again want to thank all the readers that have been making post about their progress… please continue to do so..
Regards,
William

One of the readers of the blog made a suggestion that I would like to share with everyone. Here is the comment the person made:
“Hi, here is a tip to reduce eyestrain. Download the free software SharpTimer from download.com and set it to pop up a notifing window every 20 mins. This will alert you to when you should give your eyes a break!”
One of the recommendations for reducing eyestrain from computer use is to take frequent breaks. You can read about it here. This software would certainly make it easier to remember to take those needed breaks.
P.S. I have been continuing with the exercises… Not as often as would have liked due to a hectic schedule… but I intend to remedy that.

As I continue to do these exercises as well as do more research, there is always one question in my mind… Is my eyesight improving?
Well, earlier this week I saw some indication that my eyesight may be improving:
1) I was able to read the number plate of a car that was some distance (this is similar to the one I had previously experienced)
2) For one of the exercises, you are required to use an eye chart. I was able to read the top letter from a farther distance than I was previously able to .
This two experiences gives me renewed hope…

It has been a while since I have posted anything on this blog. Since my last post, where I told of my (disappointing) visit to the optometrist, I have continued doing the eye exercises…. Not as regular as I would have liked, but probably about 2 – 3 times a week.
I must admit that the news from the optometrist discouraged me from continuing the exercises. However, thanks to my friend Joanna (Read her comments here), I haven’t given up. Joanna has been experiencing improvement in her vision using eye exercises
Because her comments were so encouraging, it occured to me recently that I could ask other people that have experienced improvement to post comments on the blog… so look out for these…
To your success…

Well I did go to the optometrist on Friday.
I want to firstly apologise for not updating the blog sooner…. I imagine some readers were anxious to find out about the visit. Anyways, the optometrist told me that there doesn’t seem to be any improvement in my eyesight… I am still 20/400.
So, what does this mean for me. Well if you remember the Commitment I made earlier this month (My Commitment), I indicated that regardless of the results of the test, I would continue doing the eye exercises for at least three weeks thereafter and then have another test done. This is what I am going to do. Also I would have the test done by another optician.
I am also encouraged to do a bit more research on using eye exercises to improve vision.
