An Update On My Eye Exercises…

November 27th, 2006 wmeng24 7 comments

Hello Readers,

It has been a while since I wrote a post on the blog. I have been extremely busy at work… but here is an update on my progress as well as some other related things:

1) Because of how busy I was over the past two weeks, I haven’t been doing the exercises regularly… actually I have done them about three times within the past two weeks.

2) What makes it even worst, is that I have been using the computer quite often… more often than usually, but I haven’t been following the recommendations for reducing computer eyestrain that I myself have recommended on the blog… things have been that hectic!

3) Despite that above, I have found that my feel “more relaxed” when I look at things without using my glasses… especially things outside during the daytime

3) I expect that things would be a bit less hectic in the comming weeks and I would certainly start back with a more regular routine

4) I had forgotten to mention that a couple of weeks ago I finally tried all the exercises recommended by the Rebuild Your Vision Program. The exercise are quite easy once you get accustomed to them.

4) One of the readers of the blog, Alex, has made quite a bit of comments on the blog, which has encouraged me to continue doing a bit more research… I hope to post my findings on the blog in the near future.

5) I again want to thank all the readers that have been making post about their progress… please continue to do so..

Regards,

William

A Tip For Reducing Eye Strain…

November 2nd, 2006 wmeng24 11 comments

One of the readers of the blog made a suggestion that I would like to share with everyone. Here is the comment the person made:

“Hi, here is a tip to reduce eyestrain. Download the free software SharpTimer from download.com and set it to pop up a notifing window every 20 mins. This will alert you to when you should give your eyes a break!”

One of the recommendations for reducing eyestrain from computer use is to take frequent breaks. You can read about it here. This software would certainly make it easier to remember to take those needed breaks.

P.S. I have been continuing with the exercises… Not as often as would have liked due to a hectic schedule… but I intend to remedy that.

Is My Eyesight Improving… Some More Hope

October 20th, 2006 wmeng24 15 comments

As I continue to do these exercises as well as do more research, there is always one question in my mind… Is my eyesight improving?

Well, earlier this week I saw some indication that my eyesight may be improving:

1) I was able to read the number plate of a car that was some distance (this is similar to the one I had previously experienced)

2) For one of the exercises, you are required to use an eye chart. I was able to read the top letter from a farther distance than I was previously able to .

This two experiences gives me renewed hope…

Just Some Thoughts…

September 28th, 2006 wmeng24 5 comments

It has been a while since I have posted anything on this blog. Since my last post, where I told of my (disappointing) visit to the optometrist, I have continued doing the eye exercises…. Not as regular as I would have liked, but probably about 2 – 3 times a week.

I must admit that the news from the optometrist discouraged me from continuing the exercises. However, thanks to my friend Joanna (Read her comments here), I haven’t given up. Joanna has been experiencing improvement in her vision using eye exercises
Because her comments were so encouraging, it occured to me recently that I could ask other people that have experienced improvement to post comments on the blog… so look out for these…

To your success…

My Visit To The Optometrist

August 29th, 2006 wmeng24 14 comments

Well I did go to the optometrist on Friday.

I want to firstly apologise for not updating the blog sooner…. I imagine some readers were anxious to find out about the visit. Anyways, the optometrist told me that there doesn’t seem to be any improvement in my eyesight… I am  still 20/400.

So, what does this mean for me. Well if you remember the Commitment I made earlier this month (My Commitment), I indicated that regardless of the results of the test, I would continue doing the eye exercises for at least three weeks thereafter and then have another test done. This is what I am going to do. Also I would have the test done by another optician.

I am also encouraged to do a bit more research on using eye exercises to improve vision.

I Have Made The Appointment With The Optician

August 18th, 2006 wmeng24 7 comments

Well I have made an appointment with the optician. This is so that I can check to see if there have been any improvement in my eyesight.

The appointment is next week Friday ( 25th August). This is the soonest appointment I could have gotten.

The Best Time To Do Eye Exercises

August 17th, 2006 wmeng24 1 comment

Good Day All. I have been doing the exercises regularly as promised.

In the Vision For Life kit, it is recommended that the eye exercises be done in the mornings, when your eyes are “fresh”. I have found that there is another benefit to doing the eye exercises in the morning.

For me, there is a greater chance of not doing the exercises if I leave it to be done in the night, simply because I am more tired from the day of working.

For the past week, I have done the exercises every morning (and once at night). I believe that the reason for the regularity is just that.

Today I am going to make my appointment to see the optician next week.

Well I didn’t do the exercises last night… but I made sure to do them this morning and I intend to do them tonight. Today I started to think about how my daily activities are affecting any progress that would be made by doing the eye exercises.
For example, I do a lot of work on the computer. This means that my eyes would be focused on a close object for quite some time. Surely this sort of activity can’t have a positive effect on my progress.

Anyways, I remembered that the Vision For Life Program recommends doing the following while working on the computer. It’s referred to as the 10-10-10 Rule:

Every time you are performing close vision work for over 10 consecutive minutes, look up and focus on anything that is at least 10 feet away, for at least 10 seconds. This simple rule helps to prevent the damaging effects of near-point stress and could literally save your eyesight!

There are some other Vision Tips related to computer use (for example, the one I posted about reducing computer eyestrain) and I would post an article some time next week.

I Have Been Keeping My Commitment.

August 10th, 2006 wmeng24 No comments

I am happy to say that I am proceeding nicely… I have done the exercises everyday since I made the commitment.

Ever so often, I receive an email from someone indicating that they are also trying the Vision For Life Program themselves. I want to encourage such people to post their progress on the blog as well. It would serve as encouragement for those who are considering eye exercises to improve vision.

Proceeding as Intended

August 6th, 2006 wmeng24 2 comments

This is just an update to let you all know that I am proceeding as intended in my two week commitment. I have done the eye exercises everyday since then and I had a glass of carrot juice today. I hope to keep it up.
