Eye Care Tip – Drink More Water

January 18th, 2012 wmeng24 No comments

Hello…

Firstly let me take teh time to wish all my readers all the best for the New Year!

Today, I’m providing a simple tip, which I got from the Rebuild Your Vision Program Newsletter.

Drinking plenty of water is essential to eye health. Remember, our cornea is 80% water! Drinking water ensures that your eyes will remain as moist as they need to be to properly function; it also flushes out toxins and allows your peepers to repel dirt, dust, and parasites that cause infection.

Simple, but Important!

Another Eye Care Tip From Rebuild Your Vision

April 11th, 2011 wmeng24 No comments

Hey all…

It’s been a very long time since I’ve written on my blog :-(

I just wanted to put a quick tip from the Rebuild Your Vision Program… It’s about night driving.

For people who suffer from night blindness, driving at night can be very difficult. Here are some tips for how to cope:

  1. Keep your car windshield and car windows clean—inside and out. Having dirt and debris on your windshield can disturb the filtering of light and scatter it, making it harder to see, especially at night.
  2. While driving at night, avoid looking at oncoming car lights head-on; instead, try to look to the side of the lights in order to minimize glare. Drive with your headlights on bright as long as there is no oncoming traffic.
  3. If you are at the stage of the Rebuild Your Vision Program where you are still wearing your glasses, choose glasses with an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare

I’ll be posting some more tips soon, plus some updates on my progress with natural vision improvement

Green Tea For Healthier Eyes

August 29th, 2010 wmeng24 No comments

Here’s a short article about the benefits of green tea… it contains essential nutrients that promote healthier eyesight.

A new study suggests drinking green tea may help protect the eyes from glaucoma and other eye diseases.

Researchers at the University of Hong Kong analyzed the eye tissue of laboratory rats that were fed green tea. They found that the eye structures absorbed powerful antioxidants in the beverage called catechins.

The effects of green tea catechins in reducing harmful oxidative stress in the eye lasted for up to 20 hours, according to the report in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

“Our results indicate that green tea consumption could benefit the eye against oxidative stress,” the report concluded.

The study’s authors say that the catechins in green tea are among a number of antioxidants thought capable of protecting the eye. Those include vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein and zeaxanthin. Until now, however, nobody knew if the catechins in green tea actually passed from the stomach and gastrointestinal tract into the tissues of the eye.

Green tea is also believed to be beneficial for reducing the risk of other illnesses including certain cancers, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, rheumatoid arthritis, depression and infection.

How did I improve my astigmatism

August 20th, 2010 wmeng24 No comments

Since my post some weeks ago about the improvement in my astigmatism, I’ve received several emails asking about what I did to improve my astigmatism.

Well, the truth is, I can’t point to any specific thing and neither can my optician. However, I can tell you about some of the changes I’ve made since I started my quest to improve my vision a couple of years ago… I’m sure that the improvement can be attributed to one or more of these things:

Eye exercises – Doing eye exercises to improve vision was one of the first things I started doing. Intially, I followed the steps in the Rebuild Your Vision Program very regularly. However, in more recent times, I have been doing the exercises rather infrequently.

Nutrition – I decided to use a multivitamin that has the vitamins and minerals necessary for healthy eyes, such as lutein. I am currently using MegaMen Sport, because I’m so active (swimming, cycling, etc), but you can check out the Occu-Plus Formula or any of the eye vitamins product on this page.

General habits – There are couple of habits I’ve developed over the past couple of years:

  • Practicing the 10-10-10 rule when using the computer… as well as trying to blink more frequently when I’m at the computer
  • Not depending on my glasses too much… I don’t use them unless I have to.

So there you have it… the changes I’ve made to help improve my own eyesight.

Have you seen any improvement in your eyesight? And if so what have you been doing?

Vision Tip From The RebuildYourVision Program

August 9th, 2010 wmeng24 No comments

Here’s a tip from the Rebuild Your Vision Program - It’s about how night lights affect your eyes.

Most of us believe that leaving a night-light on for our kids is reassuring, but a new study from the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center suggests that, by doing so, we may be inadvertently damaging our children’s vision. The study found that kids under 2 who sleep with a night-light on are three times more likely to develop shortsightedness than those who sleep in the dark.

The study also found that children who slept with high-powered bulbs, such as an overhead light, are up to five times more likely to develop myopia, indicating that the effect worsens with brighter ambient night-time light.

“It appears that a daily period of darkness is needed for the postnatal development of the eyes,” says Richard Stone, professor of ophthalmology at UPenn.

What’s Up With My Eye Exercises

January 26th, 2010 wmeng24 No comments

Hey Readers…

It’s been some time since I’ve written about my actual progress with eye exercises.

Well the truth is I haven’t been doing the eye exercises… at least not in strict accordance with the Rebuild Your Vision Program. Generally I would simple do some natural eye exercises whenever my eyes get tired or feel strained… and they do work.

With my experience with doing eye exercises, I now know that they:

  1. Have my eyes feeling less strained
  2. Improve my ability to focus

I have been giving my eyes the proper nutrition though. In addition to taking a multivitamin which has all the right vitamins and minerals that promote healthy eyes, I eat carrots very often and try to drink at least 5 glasses of water every day.

For those of you that are interested in improving your eyesight, but are fed up of wearing glasses or afraid of doing eye surgery, I would say go ahead and try one of the Eye Exercise Programs… but be consious of this:

If You Don’t Do The Eye Exercises Regularly, Don’t Expect Results – It seems that humans are lazy by nature and much rather getting quick results. That is why eye surgery is so popular. However, eye exercises is a natural and therefore slow alternative. You have to do the exercises often (preferably everyday) and consistently to experience significant improvement in your eyesight.

Expect That You Will What To Give Up – This point follows from the first point. Due to lazy nature of humans, you are going to get impatient, perhaps because you think that you are not experiencing significant improvement fast enough. It is important that you remember something – more likely than not, it took years for your eyesight to deteriorate to the its present state; it is unfair that you would expect to reverse the process within a mere days.

See You Next Time,

William
